General Rule:
- Unethical behavior could lead to disqualification.
- Each member of the team must keep identity card of his/her respective institute.
- There shall be no participation fee.
- School must register their participants by 02 October 2024.

Pacific Pulse: VadVivadPaksh / Vipaksh (Debate)
- Each school can send one team.
- Each team will consist of two participants – one for the motion and one against the motion.
Format of the Debate:
- Topic Announcement:
The debate topic will be provided to the teams one week before the competition.
- Speaking Order:
- Each participant will be given 4 minutes to present their argument.
- This will be followed by a 2-minute rebuttal round where participants can question each other’s statements.
- There will be a 1-minute conclusion round for each participant after the rebuttal.
- Judging Criteria:
The participants will be judged on the following:
- Content and Argument (30 points): Relevance and strength of the points.
- Delivery (20 points): Clarity, fluency, and confidence in speech.
- Rebuttal (20 points): Effectiveness and sharpness of counter-
- Conclusion (10 points): Ability to summarize and strengthen arguments.
- Overall Presentation (20 points): Body language, teamwork, and overall coherence.
- Time Management:
- Exceeding the time limit will result in a deduction of 2 points for every 30 seconds over the allocated time.
- A bell will be rung at the 3-minute mark to remind speakers to conclude their speeches.
Competition Rules:
- Preparation:
- No mobile phones or internet access will be allowed during the preparation phase.
- Participants are allowed to carry pre-prepared notes but no external coaching will be permitted during the debate.
- Etiquette:
- Participants are expected to maintain decorum throughout the event.
- Any form of disrespect or personal attacks will result in immediate disqualification.
- Jury Panel:
- A panel of three judges will evaluate the participants. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
- Awards:
- Trophies and certificates will be awarded to the Best Speaker (For the Motion), Best Speaker (Against the Motion), and the Overall Winning Team.
- Participation certificates will be given to all participants.
- Registration:
- Schools are required to submit their team names via email by 1st November 2024.
- The registration form should include the participants’ names, class, and contact details of the accompanying teacher.
- Miscellaneous:
Any team not adhering to the rules may face disqualification.
The organizing committee reserves the right to amend the rules if necessary, with prior notice to the participants.
